Denver Nuggets Make Official Coaching Decision After Playoff Run first appeared on Athlon Sports on May 22, 2025

The Nuggets have agreed to a contract with interim head coach David Adelman to make him the franchise's new head coach.

The Denver Nuggets moved quickly to solidify their coaching situation after a season that ended with both promise and uncertainty. With a playoff run fresh in their memory, the organization wasted little time making a decision that will shape its immediate future.

Nuggets president and team governor Josh Kroenke revealed that Malone and GM Calvin Booth were not seeing eye-to-eye, and their clash of philosophies was beginning to affect the team. Rather than picking a side, Kroenke let go of both and gave the team a fresh start.

Kroenke discussed his own involvement in basketball operations, as well as the state of the roster after a second-round playoff exit.

Malone spent 10 years at the helm in Denver before the front office decided to move in another direction. During his time with the Nuggets, the Queens, New York native amassed a 471-327 record. He was named Western Conference Coach of the Month on two separate occasions.
