Netflix sources told THR that the streamer chose not to renew its CoComelon license due to a decline in viewership. The show has been with the streamer since 2020. Despite airing four new seasons in 2024, the preschool series’ viewership declined by nearly 60 percent from 2023 H1 to 2024 H2, according to the streamer’s reports.

Netflix ending its deal with “Cocomelon” comes as another recent change for the Moonbug camp. Back in November, the content machine laid off around 5% of its workforce, affecting jobs mostly in Los Angeles and London.

From 2027, Disney+ will have all series of CoComelon following the expiration of its deal with Netflix. The brand, which is owned by Moonbug Entertainment, is a music-oriented animation which began life on YouTube, where it remains a monster hit.
