The Grand Canyon Lodge was about 5 1/2 hours north of metro Phoenix and was the only hotel located inside the national park on the North Rim.
The Wright Draw Fire, near Gateway, Colorado, burned an estimated 34 acres Friday afternoon, according to the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit. Aerial crews continue to monitor the fire as plans to suppress it are underway.
