Intel has revealed plans to reduce its total workforce to 75,000 "core employees" and also expects to pull back from projects in Germany, Poland, the United States, and more.
"We are making hard but necessary decisions to streamline the organization," writes the tech giant's CEO in a memo to employees.
Intel Corp. is shedding thousands of workers and cutting expenses as its new CEO works to revive the fortunes of the struggling chipmaker that helped launch Silicon Valley but has fallen behind rivals like Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
Unlike previous Intel layoffs, which offered severance or buyouts, the 2025 job cuts provide no such safety net.
Intel said Thursday it has mostly completed plans it announced last quarter to cut 15% of its workforce, as the struggling chipmaker attempts a turnaround.
