LAS VEGAS — Jordan Walsh called his ejection Monday against the Heat a “rookie mistake.” His coach, Joe Mazzulla, watching from high in the bleachers of Cox Pavilion with his family, texted his young swingman and said he “loved” the fire.

Jordan Walsh’s best performance of the summer was over before halftime. The third-year Celtics forward was ejected from Monday night’s 100-96 Summer League loss to the Miami Heat in Las Vegas after picking up two technical fouls in quick succession.

Despite Walsh's poor decision-making, it would appear that Joe Mazzulla was a fan of the fire and fight that Walsh displayed on the court. When speaking to reporters in attendance after the game, Walsh shared a message Mazzulla had sent him via text.
