Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani faced hitters in live batting practice Sunday afternoon for the first time since having elbow surgery in September 2023. Ohtani has been building up slowly these last few weeks and had thrown off a mound in the bullpen several times.

First pitch was set for 7 p.m. local time for Sunday's series finale between the Dodgers and Mets. But there was a much-anticipated show before the show, so to speak, more than four hours before the players took the field.

Shohei Ohtani threw a live batting practice session Sunday as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury, getting in work before the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the New York Mets.
