San Diego has experienced a welcome trifecta: More housing, better rents and a lower homeless count. It would be nice if it was simply that the first two resulted in the third, but the recent positive trend in the unhoused tally isn’t so easily explained.

There was no “California Love” between LA Galaxy and San Diego FC fans after the final whistle Saturday. Videos revealed a massive, wild brawl that broke out in the stands at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego and later into the parking lot following the home team’s 2-1 win over the Galaxy.

The blaze ignited around 5:15 p.m. Saturday off Springhurst Drive in the Sabre Springs area, burning in brush near Cobblestone Creek Road in Poway, sheriff’s officials said. Crews were able to stop the forward spread of the fire around 6:30 p.m., according to San Diego fire officials.
