The National Resistance Army (NRC) moved into Kampala on January 25 1986 and overthrew the short lived military government of General Basilio Okello after five years of fighting, the soldiers received a rapturous welcome. The NRC forces, led by Yoweri Museveni, won support from Ugandans because of their discipline and were praised for not killing, robbing and raping innocent civilians.
