The powerhouse Pennsylvania Railroad was one of the largest railroad networks in the United States and dominated the south side of downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana with a massive shop for building and repairing freight cars, passenger cars, and steam locomotives. The railroad's Baker Street Station survives to this day after an extensive restoration in the early 2000s and at one time hosted 4,000 passengers a day. 48K views · 2K reactions | Head to Portola, CA and the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. Here’s steam engine No. 165 built in 1919 and operated until 1953 as a switching locomotive. The engine sat on display at the San Leandro BART station for a number of years. In 2006 the train made it back to Portola where restorations began and is now chugging along the tracks again!
